Between the Pipes

A foray in goaltending, athletics and development

Goalie Feature: Josh Braine, Cole Harbour Wings

Josh is a dynamic young goalie from Cole Harbour who played between the pipes for the Novice Advanced Red team this past season.  Being the only goalie on his team and sometime subbing for the other Novice Advanced team, he played probably close to 60 plus games this season.  The highlight being an eight game string during the Joe Lamontagne tournament where he went 6-1-1.   Did I mention that these eight games took place in a 48 hour period?

He told to me that he is a Montreal Canadiens and Carey Price fan, but I could guess that with all his Hab's apparel he wears to the rink.  He likes to have eggs before a game (might I assume because of the shape? "0.00"), and he says his goals for next year include playing Atom AA and maintaining his never-quit attitude.

This is my second year working with Josh on the ice as his goalie coach, and being a small part of his development, I'm very happy to see the great skill arc that he is on.  Working with a goalie just starting out, you will get to witness the many new skills picked up and how quickly they are improved on.  Josh has given me that opportunity.  Being a workhorse like his idol Carey Price won't hurt his development at all either, as Josh never turns down a chance to be on the ice.  The association is expecting big things from him in the years to come.

So do I.
