Pats and Congrats for Whalers Pee Wee A for grabbin' gold!
I'd like to toss out another congratulatory high-five to the Dartmouth Whalers Pee Wee A team who snagged a gold medal at the 2013 MacDonald Gallagher Tournament in Cape Breton.
The boys had to deal with a very hard schedule prior to the tournament, in addition to the goalies being called up to the Pee Wee AA's and AAA's practices due to injuries and illness. While slightly fatigued, Matt and Andrew pulled together a perfect string of five wins to nail the ulitmate prize at the tournament.
Both tenders demonstrate that goalies can take very different approaches to the game and still be very successful. The cookie-cutter approach to goalie instruction would be a major error for working with either goaltender. Matt who works hard on being fundamentally sound and very mobile with speed can make most saves look very easy. Andrew uses his size and reach to finds ways to be on the shotline on a consistent basis, challenging players to beat him with perfect shots. I have really enjoyed working with both boys and being a small part of their continuing success.
