Tuuku Rask almost redirects puck into his own net
This is a common error that I see young goalies make when they position their stick for a play or pass originating from behind the net. Some goalies get a little sloppy and have the blade square to the puck, but place the blade well north of the goal line. This gap between the blade and the goal line gives the player passing the puck out from behind the net a "sweet" little rebound board that they can try to bank the puck off of and possibly into the net.
While I really encourage active stickwork for goalies to cut off passes to prevent having to make difficult saves in the slot, stick and blade placement must be done with care to prevent these bad goals. My recommendation to my goalies is have the goalstick blade as close to the goal line as possible and minimize the gap between the heel of the stick and the toe of the post-side leg.
Here Tuuku Rask is a little lax with his stick placement and it almost catches up with him.
